What to wear

Comfortable walking shoes are essential. The castle has narrow stone staircases, uneven floors, and tight corners. Trainers or hiking shoes beat sandals or dress heels. In winter (November–March), expect cold (below 10 °C inside) and lack of heating; wear layers and a warm jacket. In summer, the interiors stay cool even when outside is warm — bring a light jacket or cardigan. For tower balconies on sunny days, bring a sun hat and sunscreen (SPF 50); the altitude and stone reflection intensify UV.

Camera and phone

The interior is naturally lit by small windows, so rooms are dimmer than you might expect. A phone or camera with decent low-light performance helps. Avoid flash (it damages period interiors and is banned). If you want night-tour quality photos, bring a camera with manual ISO and a wide aperture. For daytime visits, any phone camera works fine. Bring a portable phone charger if you plan to record video.

Cash and currency

The castle ticket office accepts card, but the souvenir vendors and add-ons (Time Tunnel, Torture Chambers) are cash-only in lei. Bring 50–100 lei (~€10–20) if you want the add-ons. Timing and energy
